Amirul holds an LL.B. (Honours) from the University of Sheffield – UK, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking & Finance (PDIBF) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia and a Certificate in Human Resources Management (CHRM) from the University of Malaya.
An early starter, as a Senior Under Officer (Student Head) in the Royal Military College (RMC), Amirul’s outstanding performance and leadership skills has won him numerous responsibilities and high positions, an example being the second Malaysian student in history to be accepted to the crème United States Military Academy at Westpoint.
A lawyer by training, Amirul is a respected banker who started his career as the youngest A&W Management Trainee in 1990. Later on, he worked with EON Finance Berhad (EFB) for 7 years and was a high flying Manager in EON Bank Group’s Islamic Banking Unit responsible for the setting-up of the Islamic Banking Unit in EFB in 1995 even before EON Bank Berhad had managed to set-up their own Islamic Banking Unit (the first in the Islamic banking industry at that time).
Prior to founding Perfect Know How Sdn Bhd, Amirul worked with Unisys MSC Sdn. Bhd. for 2 years and was attached to the Government Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC) project as a Consultant responsible for Training & Development (T&D) for GMPC’s Senior Management and user groups. For being able to set-up the T&D function and implement the T&D programme within 2 months Amirul was promoted to be a Team Leader for T&D and his last post prior to leaving Unisys MSC was as a Business Support Manager.
In terms of awards and achievements, Amirul was awarded the Best Lasallian Award (the first Malay student in the history of the school) in 1982 by La Salle Primary School, Petaling Jaya. In 1987, he was a member of the victorious RMC English language debating team, which won the national Prime Minister’s Trophy for English language debate.
In 1995, Amirul Haji Mohamad was given a triple promotion (first & only time in EFB’s history) for being able to set-up the Islamic Banking unit and became the youngest Assistant Manager in EON Finance Berhad’s history. In 1997, his outstanding credence won him the prestigious Tun Razak Youth Leadership Award (TRYLA) awarded jointly by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and the Konrad-Adeneur Foundation, Germany.
Amirul is also a Contributor to the Malayan Law Journal Islamic Banking Dictionary project and a Dialogue Member for MOSTI / YKSM (Financing Infrastructure) in 2007.
